Non-Discrimination: St. Michael Parish School recruits and admits students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs. Furthermore, it is school policy to comply with applicable constitutional and statutory provisions regarding non-discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, gender, national origin, disability, and age. St. Michael Parish School is a Catholic school and has the right to conduct all aspects of its operations, including, without limitation, curricular and non-curricular activities, in accordance with Catholic teachings and beliefs, and to require that its students and staff conduct themselves at all times in a manner that is consistent with Catholic teaching.

St. Michael Parish School will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or ethnic origin in the hiring of its certified or non-certified personnel.  As a religious organization, the School is also bound by Canon Law and Catholic doctrines and disciplines. For this reason, active membership in the Catholic Church may be a condition of employment for certain positions. All staff members, regardless of membership in the Catholic Church, must abide by the values and mission of the School and the Catholic Church. Nothing in this policy shall require the School to act in a manner contrary to the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church or be construed to diminish its rights as a religious organization.

All employees and volunteers who have contact with students undergo thorough screening, including background checks through the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification (BCI&I). For complete information on screening policies, see the revised Policy for the Safety of Children in Matters of Sexual Abuse, section 1.2 (p. 3).
