We have been educating students for over 150 years!

Founded in 1872, St. Michael School works in partnership with parents to:

  • provide each child the opportunity to grow according to his/her needs

  • build the value of service to others

  • enhance the development of responsible members of the parish community.

St. Michael School and St. Basil the Great Parish developed a partnership over 20 years ago that allows our younger students to be taught at the Early Education Center at St. Basil in Brecksville. The center is home to the St. Michael preschool and preK. Kindergarten through Grade 8 are located at the Main Campus in Independence. The enrollment for the 2023/2024 school year in grades PreK-8 is 297.

We offer an excellent academic education grounded in basic Christian values. St. Michael School is a U.S. Department of Education Nationally Recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. The school also was recognized by The Ohio Academy of Science's Governor's Thomas Edison Awards for "Excellence in STEM Education and Student Research." The school focuses on meeting the needs of all students, including those requiring remedial or enrichment experiences.

We are fully accredited by the Ohio Catholic Schools Accreditation Association and the National Catholic Education Association.
