Tom and Donna Narduzzi have one current SMS Blue Angel–Dominic–who is nine years old and in the third grade.  They have two daughters who are SMS graduates–Lauren, age 24 and Alexa, age 21.  Dominic is involved in CYO basketball, Kiwanis K-Kids, Jump Rope Club and Rosary Club.

“We are proud to be a part of the St. Michael School family because there is no better place for my child to be,” said Tom and Donna.  “SMS is truly a family.  I know that for the teachers, it is a ministry.  They love the children and want to see them grow in their faith, as well as receive a top-notch education.”

St. Michael School is near and dear to both Tom and Donna as they both graduated from the school, as well as their two daughters.  “It is home to us,” said Tom and Donna.

The Narduzzi’s said as their daughters made their way through high school, they felt there was a kindness that emanated from them.  “We see it with our own son as well.  In part, it comes from attending a faith-based, Catholic school.  The foundation that SMS has built carried my daughters throughout high school and college and we feel Dominic will benefit in the same way.”

The St. Michael School March 2016 Family of the Month is the Kazmierczak family of Garfield Heights.

Justin and Cara Kazmierczak have three SMS Blue Angels – Austyn (Grade 6), Layla (Grade 4), and Victoria (Grade 2). They also have an up and coming SMS Blue Angel, Stella.  She is three years old and excited to be in Mrs. Rable’s four-year-old class next year.

At St. Michael School, all three children have found a variety of activities to be involved in.  Austyn loves basketball, Builders Club and the Bowling Club.  Layla plays volleyball, basketball, runs track and loves to be involved in clubs like Kiwanis K-Kids, Rosary, Science, Cooking and Jump Rope Club.  Victoria is involved in Girl Scouts, Kiwanis K-Kids, Rosary Club and Jump Rope Club. Next year she will be active in CYO sports.

“We are proud to be a St. Michael School family because of the wonderful teachers and great SMS families that make up this community and influence our children daily,” said Justin and Cara.  “We came to Open House when we were looking for kindergarten for Austyn.  From the very first moment we stepped in the door, it felt like family.  Everybody was so kind and welcoming.  We immediately knew this was the type of environment we wanted for our kids while they were in school.”

“St. Michael School has provided our children the perfect environment to grow, both in their education and in their faith.  They are consistently challenged, and offered various opportunities for growth and learning.  Their teachers do a wonderful job making learning fun and interesting!  What has made the biggest difference for our kids is the strong focus on their faith. They are encouraged to learn about their faith, to practice their faith through daily prayer and weekly mass, and to demonstrate their faith to others on a daily basis.  They really take ownership of their faith and make it their own.  Also, there are so many opportunities for our kids to get involved.  Whether through sports, the great variety of clubs that are offered, or the many service projects that we do, there always seems to be something that peaks their interest and offers a chance for everybody to be a part of the awesome SMS community.”

When the Kazmierczak family talks about St. Michael School to other parents who may not have heard of the school, they always mention the amazing teachers, strong foundation of faith, small class sizes, and the close-knit family atmosphere.

Brian and Angela Meek have two SMS Blue Angels – Evelyn (Pre-3) and Adler (Kindergarten). “Since our children are young, we are proud to see how their spirits are nurtured and their love of learning fostered.  Both Adler and Evelyn eagerly anticipate going to school.  They truly love to learn about Jesus.”  The Meek family feels that St. Michael School offers a Catholic education with a developmentally superior curriculum enriched by the promotion of creative play.  “The educators at the St. Basil Campus are exceptional,” said Angela and Brian.

The Meek family chose St. Michael School because the Jr. Kindergarten program was highly recommended to them.  While attending an open house, they had the opportunity to meet both Mrs. Fernandez and Mrs. Hovan.  “Their dedication to young children’s education is unmistakable.  They complement each other so well and they share a fun, light-hearted rapport that gave us great comfort.  In fact, we joked afterward, how we wanted to spend our days with them!  We knew it was the perfect place for our children,” said Angela and Brian.

“Our children are thriving since becoming students at St. Michael School. They treasure the smallest accolades from their teachers breeding greater confidence. Lasting friendships are being built and the one both children are most proud to call their friend is Jesus.  The feeling of community at St. Michael School is unparalleled. We were welcomed and embraced from the moment we stepped through the doors. We send our children to school each day with peace of mind knowing they are surrounded by family.”

November 2015
SMS Family of the Month

The St. Michael School November Family of the Month is the Toth family of Seven Hills.

The Saint Michael School November Family of the Month is the Toth family of Seven Hills.  They were chosen when their SMS “Home of a Blue Ange” yard sign was spotted in their front yard.

Eric and Heather Toth have two SMS Blue Angels–Elenore, or Ellie for short, who is in second grade and Deacon who is in Kindergarten.  While they are still young for most of St. Michael’s clubs, Ellie is looking forward to joining the Jump Rope Club and Deacon is eager to participate in the sporting activities.

When it came time to look for a school that fit the needs of their family, the Toth family found that St. Michael School was exactly what they needed.  It would give their children a great education, along with a solid Catholic foundation. When Eric and Heather were asked why they are proud to be a St. Michael School family, Heather said, “We are proud to send our children to a school where we know they are safe, they are being taught the right values by a great staff and proud that they are receiving a Catholic education with great core values.”

The Toth’s also feel that St. Michael has made a difference for both of their children.  The preschool program with Teacher Mrs. Pam Rable has helped Deacon grow a lot. Also, Ellie is learning the value of service and is always looking for a way to help others.  Ellie and Deacon are also having their sense of right and wrong reinforced everyday which means a lot to Eric and Heather.

As a family they have nothing but praise for St. Michael School. “The teachers have been wonderful and the Kindergarten Bootcamp in the summer is something you won’t find anywhere else,” said Heather. “St. Michael School is not only a very safe and friendly environment, but its education is perfect for our children.”

October 2015
SMS Family of the Month

The St. Michael School October Family of the Month is the Kuczmarski family of Independence.

Thirteen years ago when the Kuczmarski family toured St. Michael School when their oldest was starting kindergarten, they say it felt like home from the minute they walked in the door.  Megan graduated in 2013 and Adam in 2014.  As Michelle, their mother says, “We have two more precious years here with our youngest son, Sean (Class of 2017).”

While the family is proud of the academic, band and sports achievements their children have accomplished at St. Michael, they say that nothing can compare to the bonds of friendship all three of have formed here; friendships that will most likely last a lifetime.  “We are especially humbled by the outpouring of love and support SMS families show and give each other,” said Michelle.  “We have seen our school community rally around students that have lost parents, grandparents, siblings and other precious family members.  We come together and support each other in good times and in bad, this is what makes SMS a very special place.  In our school community we look out for each other and make sure that everyone is taken care of.”

“We strongly believe that as parents, we are to be the primary educators to our children of our Catholic faith.  We are blessed to have St. Michael School support us in this responsibility.  Along with our faith practices at home, we are grateful that are children participate in the sacraments, religion classes, LifeWorks and daily prayer at school.  Receiving the sacrament of the Eucharist each week with their classmates is very important to us.  It is not uncommon for the teachers in the classroom, playground and lunch room to speak of our faith and how we should be living it out and treating others.  This is a constant reminder that God comes first.  Being at SMS allows our children to discuss their faith in a safe environment which gives them confidence to live it out in a world that may not look kindly on it,” continued Michelle.

Their oldest two, Megan and Adam, are now attending Independence High School and call themselves “Blue Devils,” but they received their start as St. Michael School “Blue Angels” and for that, the family says they are grateful.  They have received a strong foundation of faith and love that will carry them through high school and beyond.

September 2015
SMS Family of the Month

The St. Michael School September Family of the Month is the Delmore family of Seven Hills.

Most St. Michael’s families display one yard sign, but the Delmore family has two proudly showcased in their front yard.  This is thanks to the Delmore’s daughter, Paige.  When her parents came home with one yard sign she observed the sign and said, “Home of a St. Michael Blue Angel,” and felt that since she was a blue angel, too, the family would need two yard signs; one for Paige and one for her older brother Zach.

Both of Michael and Christine Delmore’s children are involved SMS Blue Angels. Zach, fifth grade, is involved in band, CYO basketball, K-Kids, Jump Rope Club, Boy Scouts, Science Club and is president of the fifth grade Student Council.  Paige, second grade, is entering her first year at “the big school” where she is eagerly waiting to join clubs and play sports.

Besides the extracurricular activities, the Delmores feel that the teachers, faculty and staff have created an environment that helps their children grow both educationally and in their faith. “St. Michael’s has helped my children enjoy learning and going to school,” said Christine. This is exactly what the Delmores had been looking for when they enrolled their children into St. Michael School. They wanted a school that would give their children not only a high quality education, but would also help instill Christian values in them.  “St. Michael’s has committed teachers, caring administrators, a family and community-oriented atmosphere and a phenomenal dedication to its students and their education,” said Christine.

As a family they have nothing but praise for St. Michael’s School and Parish. “We are proud of its faith, values, and commitment to the students and community.” said Michael. “Our experience with St. Michael School and Parish has been wonderful and that is why we are proud to call ourselves a St. Michael School family.”
